Island in the sun kitchen
This kitchen with a coastal feel offers a contemporary twist on a classic beach-cottage motif. The kitchen, in a rental home, was designed for easy navigation and to accommodate a large number of guests.
Mackintosh Style Kitchen
Reflecting the homeowners’ love of the Arts-and-Crafts movement, this kitchen is reminiscent of the Rennie Mackintosh style, but adds all the modern conveniences needed today.
Mellow, toned quarter-sawn oak cabinetry intermixed with black hickory cabinets help achieve this outcome. Authentic Motawi tiles in rustic colors of the period complement a fully functional kitchen, featuring a 36” electric cooktop, stainless steel hood, a fully integrated refrigerator, and microwave drawer in the island.
A wraparound, built-in banquette comfortably seats a crowd. On the opposite side of the room, a secondary kitchen/wet bar area provides additional workspace, along with wine storage and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry for fine china and crystal.
All in all, this kitchen, with its sleek styling combined with classic Arts-and-Crafts touches is a fitting modern homage to the spirit of Mackintosh.
